Trauma Information Group: Stage 1

The Center for Grief and Loss is offering Stage I and Stage II of the Trauma Recovery Group, based on Judith Herman’s model of recovery and healing from trauma.

Tell me more! The Trauma Information Group: Stage I is a group comprised of 10 self-contained, topic oriented sessions with the goal of providing members with a greater understanding of trauma, the psychological aftermath of experiencing trauma or traumas, and the process of recovery and healing.  The emphasis will be on providing a framework for understanding trauma so that members can assume some mastery of their therapeutic work.  Members will also have the opportunity to learn and practice skills for grounding, containment, and self-care.

Trauma Recovery Group: Stage II continues with topic areas from Stage I by providing group members the opportunity to identify and work toward a specific trauma-related goal.

Any other important details about the group? Group members are required to be working with an individual therapist while participating in the Trauma Recovery Groups.  Group members are asked to make a commitment to attend each of the 10 group sessions for Stage I or Stage II.  Completion of Stage I is required before participation in Stage II.

I’m interested! How do I sign up?  In order to enroll in the Trauma Information Group: Stage I, potential members must meet with one of the two group facilitators for an assessment session.  This is an opportunity for the potential group member to learn more about the group and ask any questions they may have. The therapist and the potential group member will collaborate to determine whether the group will fit the needs of the potential member at this time.  Call Stacy Scanlon at 651-641-0177 to get connected with one of the group facilitators.

What is the cost of the group? The initial assessment session will be billed through your insurance.  The Center does not bill insurance for group sessions and the cost is $75/session.  Stacy Scanlon, Office Manager, will be available to collect payments prior to the start of each group session.
