Grief education and support - Edina Coalition for Grief Support

The Edina Coalition for Grief Support is an open group sponsored and supported by nine Edina churches in addition to Fairview Southdale Hospital Spiritual Care. Each meeting includes an educational presentation or a personal story of grief and recovery, followed by small group discussions.

When: Weekly, Thursday, 4:30 - 6:00 pm; Registration and hospitality, 4:00 pm; Speaker, 4:30 pm; Discussion groups, 5:00 - 6:00 pm.

Downtown Coalition for Grief Support

The Downtown Coalition for Grief Support, comprised of downtown faith communities, sponsors this series. Each meeting includes an educational presentation or a personal story of grief and recovery, and small group discussions.

When: Weekly, Saturday 9:30-10:00 a.m, registration and hospitality; 10:00-10:30, speaker; 10:30- 11:30 discussion groups.

This group is intended for anyone who has lost someone significant through death and wants support and education around the grieving process.

Fairview Youth Grief Services

We invite families to participate in our 6-week free grief support group series for children & teens ages

4-18 who have had a loved-one die, along with support for the parents/caregivers.

Children and teen groups are divided by age. We incorporate fun, healing, and age-appropriate activities to help families through the grieving process. While children and teens are meeting, support is offered simultaneously for their parents and caregivers.

Spring 2016 Series Dates:

Camp Erin/Fairview Youth Services

Camp Erin—Twin Cities Grief Support Camp

Camp Erin is a grief camp designed for children ages 6-17 who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend. At Camp Erin, the focus is on kids. Grief professionals and highly trained volunteers of Youth Grief Services work to combine all the excitement of camp with time for the kids to express their grief, learn to cope with their loss, and build trust and self-esteem. For any parent who has experienced the loss of an INFANT through miscarriage, stillbirth, or early neonatal loss.

SID Parent Support Group. This group is for newly bereaved parents who have experienced the sudden death of an infant from any cause. Meetings are held monthly at Children's Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group. For parents who have experienced a perinatal loss. This group meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month on the St. Paul campus. Compassionate Friends

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families in the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age, and to provide information to help others be supportive. If you have had a child die at any age, from birth to adult, these meetings are for you. We are an international, nonprofit, self-help support organization with almost 600 chapters. There is no religious affiliation. Parents, grandparents, siblings (over age 12), extended family, and visitors are welcome.

When: The third Monday of every month, from 7-8:30 PM.

Where: Minneapolis Chapter (serving Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs) meets at St. Joseph Parish Community 8701 36th Avenue N. New Hope, MN 55427 (corner of 36th Ave N and & Boone Avenue N)

Suicide Loss

Friends and Families of Suicide

Friends and Families of Suicide is an ongoing Survivors of Suicide support group meeting. The meetings are facilitated by peer-facilitators and are not a substitute for counseling or care by professionals. The support group provides a place of support and comfort where those that have lost a loved one to suicide can be comfortable talking about their loss as well as hearing about the losses of others.

FFoS meets the 3rd Monday of every month 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
