Cassie is a student intern pursuing her Master's degree in Adlerian Psychotherapy with emphasis in Art Therapy and Clinical Counseling, at Adler Graduate School. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Individualized Study with concentrations in Art, Psychology, and Human Health and Wellness.
The American Art Therapy Association describes art therapy as "a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals."
Cassie believes in the therapeutic value of art and the creative process of art making. Art therapy is beneficial to all age levels, and can be adapted to any physical or mental ability. No prior art skills are necessary, and no judgments are made based on the aesthetic of the final art product, meaning that anyone can participate in art therapy. Therapeutic goals are attained through media exploration, art making, and processing.
