Gayle has presented at countless conferences nationally and has helped people living with life-threatening illness, loss, trauma, and grief for more than 20 years.

In these capacities, Gayle has presented at countless conferences and workshops nationally on the emotional needs of people living with life-threatening illnesses, caregiver grief, grief group facilitation, the need for self-care when caring for others, talking with young people about grief, "grief as a beginning too" and counseling end-of-life clients. Gayle contributed a chapter entitled "The Grieving Caregiver" to the book "Caring for the HIV/AIDS Caregiver."

Prior to her position at the Center for Grief, Gayle was in private practice for six years in Washington, DC, working extensively with people impacted by loss and grief. Additionally, her background includes directing HIV/AIDS training for the St. Francis Center, a non-denominational organization in Washington, DC serving individuals living with loss, illness and grief; facilitating an on-going spouse loss support group for Jewish Family and Children's Services, starting up the Los Angeles Youth Network, a comprehensive homeless youth program in Hollywood, California; directing education programs for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC, and coordinating programs and providing counseling for the Response Center, a program for victims of violent crimes.

Gayle's approach is deeply impacted by her in-depth travel to Hong Kong, Bali, Japan, Australia, Singapore, Western Europe, Kauai, and Alaska, and having lived on both coasts before landing in the middle of the country (which she loves!) Gayle has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, is a political news "junkie," loves to garden without gloves, and cocoon at home with really good coffee. She currently lives in Golden Valley with her husband, 15-year old son, twin 11-year old son and daughter, her father, two cats, two hyper lab puppies, fish...
